Wolf Man Review

Far from being a horror movie about werewolves, it is one of the better movies. But this has no bearing on the creature design and the plot as there are no obvious issues.

The actors deliver strong performances with their reactions and the fact that facing something you’ve only heard about in fairy tales will create doubt and instability as to what to do. Plot and creature design are major concerns for me.

I don’t mind a small, concise plot that prioritizes survival at night versus world building, however it does move so fast at times that it takes us into a night of horror.

Additionally, why the characters refuse to arm themselves for the last 30 minutes does not reveal what a frightened person would do in such a situation.

You could swap a supernatural wolf with a regular bear and I think most people in a panic situation would likely react the same way—avoiding doors and windows rather than hovering.

There are characters who do not arm themselves with weapons and prefer to hang out near doors and windows. In the end it felt like a great series preview, but needed to pack enough detail into the runtime to leave a lasting impression.

Honestly, the 2010 Wolfman film does a better job at world building and the horror of a man transforming into a wolf. It also works because we talk about how the family guy can lose itself because of the monster within, Jada, which was a big disappointment.

It would have been better if she had been the mother of the victim of this abuse, she had other inherent flaws that the abusers took advantage of.
