Presence Review
I totally love the neon thing, but I have to admit, maybe because the trailer has packed all the excitement you’ll find in the entire movie, but it’s totally a snooze fest.
I like the cast but overall the story is very weak, the whole evidence of Julia Fox and the story/plot and basically the plot is very questionable.
We ‘understand’ the intrigue and honestly feel that this almost should have been a surprise release – with minimal promotion and limited trailers/sneak peeks. Only in the opening sequence do you realize what’s happening and the film never picks up the pace, even when the ‘scary’ moments arrive.
Once again – huge fan of Neon, I love movies like Long Legs and of course the epic Anora movie, but this is really sad – it felt like I could just wait for a movie to come out on the Max and watch it at home.
It was a unique experience in the early moments, but personally I didn’t feel like things were picking up and the ‘twist’ felt too trite and overly simplistic – almost like trying to come up with a quick finale that seemed so elaborate that it wouldn’t be that easy.
With all due respect to you, I liked the movie a lot, but I had no interest in it. Looking forward to the summer of monkeys and hell.
