Back in Action Review
What’s wrong with a movie starring Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Glenn Close, which has an intriguing story about married former super spies who quit their jobs to live normal lives and raise their children under new identities, until they are forced back into action?
A lot, when the writing and directing are as poor as here. It fails as both a comedy and an action film, as the comedy is forced and the action lacks excitement.
The cast tries to overcome the lame script, which mostly deserves an A for effort; But Seth Gordon and Brendan O’Brien, who co-wrote the film, which Gordon directed, have failed to make it a success.
Despite their years in the business, Gordon and O’Brien have created a real interest between them and it’s evident here.
Jamie Demetriou plays an ambitious secret agent who accidentally saves London, acquiring two of the bad casting and acting secrets. Things won’t get much better for the obnoxious 14-year-old daughter of Mckenna Roberts and Kyle Chandler.
However, Rylan Jackson, playing the 10-year-old son, is fantastic, mature beyond his years, who could easily lead the perfect kids’ action movie, so get to know him more.
My 3 stars are generous due to Lucas-Diaz’s good natural chemistry. Hopefully a sequel will be made with new team writers and a differen director.
